Nicole Kidman’s New Series ‘Scarpetta’: A First Look at the Forensic Thriller

Get ready, thriller fans! Nicole Kidman is stepping into the role of the brilliant, yet complex, Dr. Kay Scarpetta in the upcoming Prime Video series, Scarpetta! Based on Patricia Cornwell’s hugely popular novels, this adaptation promises to be a gripping exploration of forensic science and the dark side of human nature.

In the first look, we see Kidman embodying the iconic forensic pathologist, a character that has captivated readers since 1990, when the first Scarpetta novel was released. The series, developed and written for television by Liz Sarnoff (known for her work on Barry and Lost), is set to premiere on March 11, 2026.

The story unfolds across two timelines, taking us from Scarpetta’s early days as a Chief Medical Examiner in the late ’90s to her present-day return to her hometown. There, she reclaims her former position while investigating a particularly gruesome murder.

Joining Kidman in this thrilling adaptation are Jamie Lee Curtis, Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, and Ariana DeBose. Additionally, Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale, and Hunter Parrish will portray younger versions of the characters, adding another layer of intrigue.
