The UAE Team Emirates – XRG is a powerhouse in the cycling world, thanks to its vast financial resources and the influx of new talent. One of the most exciting prospects joining the team in 2026 is Adrià Pericas, a 19-year-old Spaniard who’s already making waves. Pericas is eager to race alongside the likes of Tadej Pogacar and other stars on the team.
In an interview with AS, Pericas reflected on his first season with UAE’s under-23 structure, describing it as a positive learning experience. He’s ready to take the next step to the World Tour, a significant leap he’s excited about and feels prepared for. Pericas has already proven his mettle, finishing in the top 10 in several races, including the Vuelta a Murcia, Tour du Rwanda, Istrian Spring Tour, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Giro d’Italia, and the World Championships road race.
Despite his impressive performance, Pericas remains humble, acknowledging that he has much to improve upon. He’s passionate about climbing and attacking cycling, and he’s determined to find his place in the peloton. His ambition is to be part of his home race, the Volta a Catalunya, in his debut World Tour season, a special goal for the Catalan cyclist.
Pericas also shared his thoughts on Juan Ayuso, who didn’t end up as a teammate but is a neighbor in Catalunya. He believes Ayuso’s move will be positive, providing a change of scenery for the young rider. Pericas and Pogacar, who he’s looking forward to racing with, share a positive dynamic. Pericas is eager to help Pogacar and learn from him, having already shared a room with Marc Soler during a training camp in Dubai, where the atmosphere was reportedly excellent.
