Novak Djokovic just made history, folks! He's officially tied the record for the most qualifications in the Nitto ATP Finals, a feat that solidifies his legendary status in the tennis world. This marks his 18th time qualifying, putting him shoulder-to-shoulder with the one and only Roger Federer. Talk about elite company!
This incredible achievement was confirmed when the draws for the ATP 500 events in Basel and Vienna were released on Saturday. Djokovic, along with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, are the first three players to secure their spots in the singles field for the 2025 season finale in Turin.
Djokovic's 2025 season has already been packed with highlights. One of the biggest was winning his 100th tour-level title in Geneva. This places him among an exclusive club, as he's only the third man in the Open Era to reach this milestone, following in the footsteps of Jimmy Connors and Federer.
He has also been a dominant force in the Grand Slam tournaments, reaching the semi-finals at the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open. This marks the seventh time he's made it to at least the semi-finals of all four majors in a single year. Furthermore, Djokovic made an ATP Masters 1000 final in Miami and a semi-final in Shanghai.
This marks Djokovic's eighth consecutive qualification for the Nitto ATP Finals. He first participated in this prestigious tournament back in 2007, when he was just 20 years old. Since then, he's only missed qualifying once (in 2017 due to injury).
Djokovic has a remarkable track record at the year-end championships, with his first triumph in 2008 and his most recent in 2023. He's won two of the four editions held in Turin and boasts an impressive 50-18 record at the event, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.
The Nitto ATP Finals is scheduled to take place at the Inalpi Arena from November 9th to 16th. Will Djokovic break the record outright this year?
